    Course Summary

Commercial photography is defined by its intent. It is created with a particular audience in mind, and for commercial purposes. Commercial photography could be intended to sell particular products or services, to promote a trend, to convey a branding narrative or to inform a particular commercial audience on an issue. This is still a very creative process, and open to innovation.

AUB’s MA in Commercial Photography is an excellent way to hone your photography abilities while learning the specific skills needed to practice your craft in the commercial world. You’ll explore different types of photography such as advertising, portraiture, fashion and photography for editorial or documentary purposes.

This course divides it focus across theory, practical ability and the professional skills you’ll need to make the most of your career. You’ll understand the commercial photography industry on both the business and critical levels, and gain an in-depth understanding of the key features of all the current professional genres.

    Course Outline

This BA program is delivered over 1 year at full time. However, it can be taken over 2 years at part-time.

It is intended both for new graduates and experienced photographers, and will help both types of students develop the skills they need to compete in the world of commercial photography. Students will take a range of modules, each specific to particular skills or to particular genres within commercial photography.

You’ll explore both traditional and digital technologies, and you’ll get a feel for where the industry is at the moment while preparing for where it is going. This includes becoming familiar with the kind of ‘frontier technologies’ you’ll be using throughout your future career.

You’ll also forge links with organisations and practitioners in the industry. Many students will work closely with these companies for their postgraduate projects, and others will benefit from learning directly from industry professionals. Many impressive careers have been launched while still taking classes.

AUB’s MA in Commercial Photography uses a range of learning and teaching methods.
