    Course Summary

    The University of Aston’s Accounting for Management BSc degree program will give you the mathematical and accounting skills you need to take your place in this prestigious profession, but also the business, management and leadership skills you’ll need to manage accountants and financial professionals of other kinds.

    This degree program will teach you about the role financial information pays in today’s businesses. You’ll learn not just how to collect, assess and interpret financial data but how to make management decisions based on it, how to plan for a business on the strategic and tactical levels, and how to monitor its progress towards its goals.

    One of the most important parts of this degree program is the year you’ll spend in a professional placement. All UK and EU students must take a year’s placement in accountancy, finance and/or management with one of the University of Aston’s international partners. It is a 3 year program for international students.

    Course Outline

    You’ll start with foundation modules on business, finance and accounting, before moving on to more advanced topics. In your final year, you’ll be able to select your own specialty from a range of options.

    Learning And Teaching

    The University of Aston relies on a wide range of different teaching methods, depending on the nature of each module. These might include lectures, group work, interactive tutorials, detailed case studies and presentations. In addition to in-class activity you will do a great deal of independent reading and study, supported by Aston’s online virtual learning environment. Your progress will be assessed by end of term examinations as well as by your coursework.

    Career Possibilities

    The majority of graduates of Aston’s Accounting for Management degree program find roles in financial management or accounting. Graduates have gone on to become Tax Trainees, Tax Analysts, Corporate Tax Professionals, Auditors, Audit Associates and Commercial Analysts at organisations like Grant Thornton, Thompson Airways, Imperial Tobacco, PwC UK, Deloitte, RSM and BDO. Others have gone on to higher degree programs, or founded their own firms, often in the Consultancy space.

    Entry & Credit

    This course may only be taken as a 3 year BSc by international students. UK and EU students must sign up for the full 4 year program with international experience.
