    Course Outline

    This degree program is delivered over a single year for most students. There are six core modules as well as 5 optional ‘pathway’ modules.

    Core Modules:

    • Research Methods

    This module looks at the research methodology of the banking industry, and opens up the option of a career in academic research.

    • Bank Financial Management

    Here, you’ll look at how banks and financial services organisations are managed, especially in the strategic context.

    • International Financial Markets

    This module addresses the way financial instruments are used as well as addressing risk and portfolio theory.

    • Financial Modelling

    Here you’ll learn the theoretical approaches to mathematical modelling as well as practical session applying it to the financial context.

    • International Banking

    This module looks at how international banks originated, what they do and how they appreciate risk in different markets.

    • Financial Econometrics

    This module looks at modelling business and financial data using econometric techniques.

    Learning And Teaching

    Bangor University’s teaching methods vary, and each degree program will be unique. You’ll learn in lectures, seminars, interactive tutorials, skills sessions and other settings as appropriate to each module and each tutor’s preferred teaching style. Note that this is an intensive, Master’s level degree program, and class sizes tend to be very small. You’ll be assessed by a combination of end of term exams and on the coursework you present in each module.
