    Course Summary

    A BSc degree in Psychology from Bath Spa University’s BSc includes an early overview of the five main areas of psychological practice – Social Psychology, Individual (or clinical) Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Biological Psychology. You’ll have the option of specialise in in any one or more of those 5 categories, selecting modules which comply with your chosen career pathway and personal interests.

    In addition, you’ll explore research and experimentation methods in the field. Finally, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the theoretical and historical concepts that underpin so much of the modern field.

    The degree program offers a year in professional placement between years 2 and 3. This is an excellent opportunity to experience professional practice for yourself, as well as to gain experience in your desired area of specialisation.     Learning And Teaching

    You’ll attend formal lectures and interactive tutorials, read independently, and do a great deal of work in the lab throughout this program. Year one will see you exploring the basics of the discipline, discovering its specialties and learning about psychological research. Year 2 will focus on each in more depth, as well as seeing you take modules relating to your specialty pathway. Year 3 will include capstone modules and an in-depth dissertation project.

    Career Possibilities

    Bath Spa University’s BSc degree in Psychology prepares you to continue your studies at the MSc and eventually PhD levels. Alternatively, many students will seek out the specific postgraduate training required by the British Psychological Society to begin practicing professionally. However, most graduates go directly into a wide range of industries. Some train in counselling, others in educational psychology and other still in careers which emphasise management or human resources.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BSc degree.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no section scoring less than 5.5 would qualify, for example.
