Course Summary
Birmingham City University’s BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences is heavily practice-led. It will give you tremendous insight into how disease and health affect different parts of the general population as well as a deep understanding of human life processes in general.
You’ll learn about all aspects of the life sciences, from genetics, biochemistry and cell biology to physiology and microbiology. You’ll explore the functioning of the human body in illness and in health, and develop the kind of problem solving skills you’ll need whether your development takes you to a higher degree program or into industry. Better still, you’ll do it all at the Edgbaston Campus’ brand new £71 million life sciences facilities.
The degree program contains the option for a year in working placement between years 2 and 3. This is a tremendous opportunity to gain important real-world laboratory and practical skills, as well as a chance to begin developing your professional network before other candidates get anywhere near the job market.
