    Course Summary

    An MSc in International Investment and Finance from Bournemouth University has a dual focus. It gives you a solid grounding in Finance generally, but focuses on International Banking and Investment with master’s level content.     Course Outline

    This is a 3 semester program, and can be taken over a single year or 16 months for full time students.

    Core Modules:

    • International Accounting & Analysis

    You’ll learn to produce financial statements, and understand the regulations which define them.

    • International Corporate Finance

    You’ll study how corporate financial decisions are made in an international organisation, and address strategy.

    • Economics of Money & Financial Markets

    Understanding the economic basis of the currency system, with special attention to financial markets.

    • International Investment Management

    Understanding global investment markets and managing risk within them.

    • Portfolio Construction & Theory

    Structuring complex portfolios of financial assets.

    • Emerging Market Economies

    Understanding the issues which face these economies and the political and social changes likely to occur within them.

    • Research Project with Optional Work Experience

    This will be a substantial research piece on a topic that plays to your interests and career path. This may involve a working placement.

    Learning And Teaching

    BU’s business School advocates a flexible learning environment and a large degree of self-directed study. The intent is for you to explore your own interests and specialised education as well as the ‘core’ content of the program. You’ll learn in lecture classes, participate in smaller, more interactive seminars and undertake group and individual projects of all kinds.     Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 1 year MSc degree. Applicants must typically have achieved a 2:2 or better undergraduate degree, or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted. International qualifications for this course can be found here. All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by achieving an IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any one section.
