    Course Summary

    Bournemouth University offers one of the nation’s best BA programs in International Tourism and Hospitality Management. In fact, it was ranked #3 in the UK for Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism in the Guardian’s League Table for 2019. The QS University rankings placed BU’s program at 2nd in the UK and only 8th worldwide.

    You’ll learn about how the hospitality and tourism industry began and how it has become what it is today. You’ll come to understand what challenges currently face businesses operating in this space, and how they hope to overcome them. You’ll also learn the management skills you need to thrive in this field.

    You’ll have the opportunity to spend 30+ weeks in work placement as well. You are encouraged to send this time working abroad if possible, to maximise your exposure to different world cultures and ways of doing business. This kind of real world experience makes you a more attractive employee.

    BU’s International Tourism and Hospitality Management program relies on three key teaching principles. Their dedication to flexible learning sees you attending lectures and seminars as well as doing independent learning. They ensure that you learn on industry-standard facilities, making you ready to step into nearly any role on graduation. They also see to it that you get real world experience both in your studies and in your optional placement year.

    Career Possibilities

    Historically, more than 90% of Bournemouth University’s International Tourism and Hospitality Management graduates will either find suitable work or enter a higher degree program within 6 months of successfully completing their degrees. Recent graduates have gone to work for organisations such as Zenith Holidays, TUI Group, Thompson, STA Travel, Senate Grand Prix, Quay Holidays, Hills Balfour and Costa Cruises. Many of these roles were offered as a result of work placement.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BA degree. Applicants must typically have achieved 104-120 UCAS tariff points, or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted. International qualifications for this course can be found here. All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by achieving an IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any one section.
