    Course Summary

Bournemouth University offers an MSc program in International Hospitality & Tourism Management that is in many ways the counterpart to their BA program of the same name. The MSc program is a ‘conversion’ course, and is designed for students who have at least on undergraduate degree, but not one that deals with hospitality or tourism management. It essentially teaches you how to manage a business within this growing industry.

It is intensive, and will give you a solid understanding of the industry at the same time that it provides you with a detailed knowledge of the challenges organisations in this industry face. Of course, you’ll also learn the industry’s best-practice management techniques to overcome those challenges.

BU’s Business School is fully accredited by the AACSB, something reserved for the top 5% of business schools worldwide. The AACSB only certifies those programs which achieve true excellence in all measurable areas, and deliver truly world class student learning outcomes.

The first is whether or not to study abroad. You can spend a full semester studying overseas and gaining a deep feel for at least one foreign culture.

The second is whether to engage n work placement for a 30 week period, gaining real world skills.

    Career Possibilities

Bournemouth University’s International Tourism and Hospitality graduates typically have a career plan mapped out already. Some enter into large hospitality or tourism organisations with a ‘fast track to management’ because of their advanced degree. They typically become Hotel Managers, Tourism Mangers or Human Resources specialists. Others return to a family business or previous career in a more responsible role, able to take that operation to new heights with their advanced business skills.

    Entry & Credit

Successful completion will result in a 1 year MSc degree. Applicants must typically have achieved a 2:2 or better undergraduate degree, or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted. International qualifications for this course can be found here. All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by achieving an IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any one section.
