Course Summary
Bournemouth University’s Mechanical Engineering MEng program is designed to create the highly skilled and capable Masters level engineers and technology leaders that so many industries demand. It is also IED and IMechE certified, and you will graduate with the academic basis for Incorporated Engineer status. Full Chartered Engineer status will be available as well, after you gain some working experience.
Many MEng graduates find themselves fast-tracked to supervisory or management roles soon after being hired, and this degree gives you the technical and management skills you’ll need to excel at both roles. You’ll learn the maths and sciences behind Engineering as well as the strategic skills you’ll need to apply emerging technologies to business and technical challenges alike.
You can also participate in an optional (but highly advisable) work placement of 30-48 weeks in year 3. This will establish that you have good professional skills as well as a bit of experience.
If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits.
