    Course Summary

The study of Physics focuses on coming to understand the fundamentals of both the Classic and Quantum approaches, as well as how the many facets of physical science can be applied to the problems of everyday life.

Brock University’s BSc in Physics is delivered by the Physics Department. You’ll have your choice of several different degree pathways, including a 4 year Honours BSc, a four year BSc with a Major in Physics, or a 3 year BSc Pass Degree. As a Major, physics may be taken singly or as a Combined Major in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or the Biological Sciences.

Furthermore, you can specialise in either Experimental Physics by taking modules like PHYS 2P312P32 and 3P92 or Modern Physics by taking modules like PHYS 2P50 and 3P91.

The Physics Department at Brock is internationally recognised for its teaching and research quality, and for its state of the art research facilities.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Career Possibilities

This degree can prepare you for a wide range of different careers, academic, commercial or industrial, depending on your elective module and co-operative educational choices. In fact, 19 out of every 20 of Brock’s work study students are hired by their host organisation after graduation!

Recent graduates of Brock’s Physics programs have taken on roles as physicists, laser and optical device technologists, space scientists, patent law specialists, or gone into research and development.

    Entry & Credit

Successful completion will result in a 4 year BSc degree.

Applicants to Brock’s Undergraduate programs should have a good Canadian secondary education behind them, or the international equivalent.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
