    Course Summary

The airline industry is in constant flux. Not only is this a field where technology advances quickly, it is one where regulatory schemes and economic conditions also change rapidly, sometimes with very little warning. As a result, the industry is always in need of highly skilled graduates who have been trained in the latest airline and airport-specific techniques as well as extensive skills in business and people management.

A BA in Airline and Airport Management from Buckinghamshire New University will prepare you for a fast track position in the rapidly evolving air transport industry, making you eligible for some of the most sought-after positions straight from graduation.

Perhaps more importantly, this program incorporates an optional Foundation Year, which makes it accessible to almost anyone, regardless of their performance when it comes to A Levels (or the international equivalent). You’ll receive all the necessary basic skills to succeed in your BA (Honours) degree in that first Foundation Year.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Learning & Teaching

Bucks University uses many different learning and teaching methods at different stages of their degrees. Early on basic skills, theories and factual knowledge will be the focus of most modules, in order to prepare students for later success. This will be delivered via large format lectures, smaller and more interactive seminars, industry-specific skills workshops and activities that make use of the school’s Virtual Learning Environment. In later years, the emphasis shifts more and more towards self-learning.

    Career Possiblities

Buckinghamshire New University’s BA program in Airline and Airport Management is essentially a business degree. It has a great deal of accounting content, and many students go on to take their professional accounting certifications through organisations like the CIPFA, CIMA,  ACCA or ICAEW. Others of course will take up roles in the air travel industries directly out of school. No matter what career pathway you choose, the work experience you earn in your Placement Year will be a huge help to you.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a full BA degree.

Students must typically have been awarded 80 UCAS Tariff Points to apply, or else must seek entry through the Foundation Year program. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. A good IELTS score would qualify, for example.
