    Course Summary

Camosun College’s Diploma in Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology is perfect for anyone who wants to prepare themselves to transfer into a BA or BSc program in the Life Sciences, Chemistry or several other technical topics.

There are actually two different degree pathways you can follow in this program:

    • Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology

The ACBT program will give you a great deal of hands on experience doing lab work in addition to a basic education in the sciences. These are exactly the skills you’ll need to move into a lab-based career or move on to a 4 year BSc degree at another institution.

    • Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology with Internship Designation

This pathway is largely identical to the first, but also includes an internship program after completion of all of your second year classes. This internship must include at least 300 hours of work, to be completed through the May, June, July and August following your last class term.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
