    Course Summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers an outstanding BA degree program in Business and Management Studies. It will give you a clear understanding of the roll managers play in modern organisations, using a rich, multi-disciplinary approach.

This program offers you your choice of nine separate degree pathways. All feature the same core curriculum in business, leadership and management techniques, of course.

    • In addition to that core content, though, you can specialise in Marketing, Law, International Business Management, Information Systems Management, Human Resource Management or Finance.
    • Alternately, you can work towards a more generalised degree with a BA (Ordinary) in Business and Management Studies. This option gives you a great deal more flexibility in selecting optional modules, and is a great way forward if you wish to specialise in something other than the six options above.
    • Lastly, you can elect to take the program as either a Diploma in Higher Education or a Certificate in Higher Education.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

The teaching methods you’ll encounter vary from module to module, but most will make heavy use of the classic lecture class format. The tutorial sessions will fill in any knowledge gaps the students may suffer from, as well as convey complex concepts through problem based learning.

Cardiff Met’s Business School is dedicated to providing career-oriented education, and you’ll learn a wide range of professional and employability skills in addition to the core content of this degree. It will include at least one module of work experience, and you may opt for a full year in work placement to make you more competitive. Recent graduates have become Human Resource Officers, Financial Account Managers, Marketing Professionals and Estate Agents, just to name a few.
