    Course Summary

    Cardiff Met’s BSc program in Computer Science is a great way to build a career in one of the fastest growing fields either in the UK or abroad. Computer Science specialists are in very high demand across a wide range of different industries, in the public, private and not for profit sectors. You’ll learn both the theoretical aspects of data science and the computational, analysis and trouble shooting skills which are most highly in demand for nearly any industry or career pathway.

    You’ll study computing, systems architecture, operating systems and the physical construction of computers in great detail. You’ll also learn how to organise and write programming code in a range of industry standard languages.

    In addition to your core curriculum, you can specialise. You also have the option of studying Computer Science generally, or of gaining a specialty in Cyber Security, Programming, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics or Mobile Computing.

    Learning And Teaching

    The teaching methods you’ll encounter vary from module to module, but all will be heavily student-centred. Most modules will include large lecture classes. You will also learn using smaller, more interactive seminar sessions, practical workshops which will help develop your skills, extensive sessions in the university’s modern computer labs, tutorials which will guide enquiry-driven learning and of course in developing your portfolio and your Computer Science Dissertation Project.

    Career Possibilities

    This is a highly career-oriented course. Though what you’ll learn is highly technical in nature, those technical skills are in incredibly high demand in a wide range of industries. You’ll have Cardiff Met’s support when it comes time to applying for your first roles, as well as the school’s extensive contact network in the IT and Telecommunications industries. The program is also awaiting accreditations with the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have earned 32 UCAS Tariff Points to begin the Foundation Year, but other qualifications are also accepted. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

    All classes are taught in English, though some may also be taken in Welsh. International students will be required to show proficiency in English by doing well on an approved test.
