    Course Summary

A BA degree in International Tourism from Cardiff Metropolitan University is a great way to begin a career in an industry which has gone from strength to strength, both in the UK and abroad.

You’ll have the option of two separate degree pathways, though much of the content will be very similar between the two.

    • One is the \international Tourism Management degree. This is fully accredited by the Tourism Management Institute, and will fully equip you to take on a leadership or managerial role in any tourism-related business.
    • The alternative is the International Tourism and Events Management degree. This option is accredited instead by the Institute of Hospitality, and has a stronger focus on venue, hotel and destination issues.

In either pathway, you’ll learn a solid core of knowledge and theory relating to the social, economic and environmental issues presented in this industry, as well as practical experience running a tourism business for yourself.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
