    Course Summary

City University London’s BSc program in Criminology and Psychology is fully BPS certified, and teaches you the core principles of both disciplines as well as giving you access to specialist modules which you can use to chart you own educational course. Depending on your choice of modules, you’ll be able to seek chartered membership in the BPS, which is key to establishing a practice in this field. Alternatively, many students explore MSc or PhD programs after graduation.

You’ll study how to collect and appraise evidence, how to consider facts and opinions critically, and a wide range of technical skills that criminologists and psychologists use in da to day practice.

This program incorporates an optional year in paid work placement or studying abroad. Either is an unbeatable opportunity to gain a broader knowledge base and an understanding of how the discipline can be applied in different situations. Both also look great on your CV.

    Learning & Teaching

Your degree progress will be assessed based on many different factors. Assessors will look at your end of year exams, of course, but will also consider laboratory participation and lab reports, in-class tests and quizzes, group and individual presentations, written essays and problem-based skills assignments. You’ll also deliver a dissertation in your final year which will account for a large percentage of your marks. This must be based on research you conduct yourself.

    Career Possibilities

This is a combined, interdisciplinary degree program. As a result, you have a great deal of flexibility as to what career paths you can take. Many seek out psychology-based roles it the criminal justice system or public sector. Some seek out roles in the not-for-profit sector. Others go on to study for research degrees or master’s level programs. Others seek out Chartered Psychologist status with the BPS and become professional psychologists.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 3 year BSc degree.

Applicants must typically have achieved 3 A levels at ABB or better, or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no section scoring lover than 6.0 would qualify, for example.
