    Course Summary

    A BEng in Computer Engineering from Concordia University is a great way to build a career in the aerospace industry, in industrial nanotechnology, in the intersection of the health industry and computer engineering or in high level academic or commercial research.

    You’ll learn the secrets of all of the computer-driven devices we live with every day, from smart phones to home entertainment systems and from coffee makers to digital printing equipment. You’ll learn to work on, improve or design advanced medical scanners and computerised devices or modern cars and aircraft cockpits. 

    The Computer Engineering degree program is available with 4 separate degree streams. In your third year of a possible 5, you’ll choose whether to focus on Computer Engineering Generally or to specialise in Pervasive Computing, in BME (Biological and Medical Engineering) or in Avionics and Embedded Systems. Your choice will determine which set of higher level modules are available to you.

    Learning And Teaching

    Concordia University relies on a mixture of innovative and traditional teaching methods to convey each module. The exact nature varies from subject to subject and from lecturer to lecturer, but will be chosen to best convey the content and to make what you learn as broadly applicable as possible.

    The Computer Engineering program also features a great deal of laboratory and design work, especially once you’ve chosen an area of specialty.

    Career Possibilities

    Concordia’s Computer Engineering program has been designed to make you employable in a wide range of engineering and design roles with employers like Microsoft, Bombardier, CAE or even the Canadian Space Agency. What you’ll be qualified for depends on the specialisation you choose and the elective modules you take. You’ll be eligible to register as a professional engineer in any case, as this program is fully recognised by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.   

     

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a BEng degree.

    Students must typically have completed a Canadian secondary education or the international equivalent. It should include some advanced Maths and or Science content.  More details can be found here.            

    All classes are taught primarily in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
