    Course Summary

De Montfort University’s Psychology BSc program will convey a deep, detailed understanding of the human mind and the way people behave in different circumstances. You’ll explore the theories behind psychology as well as the research which helped frame and refine those theories. By the time you graduate, you’ll have designed and conducted your own psychological research program.

You’ll learn key critical thinking skills, how to conduct and analyse scientific research, how to analyse psychological data and how to present results and critiques formally. You’ll find that these skills are extremely transferrable, and can see you entering into a wide range of different careers beyond that of a psychological researcher or counsellor.

This degree is recognised by the British Psychological Society. Successfully completing it gives you Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS, placing you well on your way to being able to practice as a Chartered Psychologist.

You’ll have many career options open to you. Many students go on to Master’s level degrees, such as DMU’s Psychological well-Being or Health Psychology MSC programs. Others will go directly into related work in advertising, psychological research, healthcare, human resources, social work, teaching or policing.

In your final year, you will be expected to complete a period of work experience. This will help you see how the theories and concepts you’ve learned can be applied in the real world.
