    Course Summary

An MEng in Agricultural Engineering from Harper Adams University is a great way to learn about the design, development and manufacturing of agricultural systems, vehicles and machinery. This program is very much project-led, so you will spend nearly as much time in a lab or technical setting as you do in classes.

Over your three years of study and one year in industrial placement, you’ll learn about designing agricultural equipment, about the way implements, tools and attachments interact with the soil, and about drainage and irrigation. You’ll also take highly specialised modules on renewable energy sources, agricultural robotics and the demands of precision farming.

Finally, you’ll deliver both group and individual projects over your final year, doing real work for real world clients. This will give you not just a solid understanding of the discipline but also all of the professional, practical and business skills you’ll need throughout your career.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Learning And Teaching

Over the course of this 5 year program, you’ll learn in lecture classes, seminars, workshops and practical or laboratory sessions. One of the most important learning opportunities you will have is your year in industrial placement. The university’s engineering placement manager will work to place you with an organisation working in your area of special interest and expertise, such as AGCO, Claas, Great Plains, CNH or John Deere, where you will learn real world job skills.

    Career Possiblities

The agricultural engineering and equipment industry is always in need of qualified engineering graduates, and the advanced degree this program provides makes you a very sought-after applicant. Graduates have found roles designing agricultural vehicles and systems for national and international companies such as Prodrive, BAR Systems, Supacat, CNH and JCB. Others have found rewarding engineering or managerial positions for vehicle companies like Vauxhall, Bentley and Jaguar Land Rover.

    Entry Credit

This course grants successful graduates a 5 year MEng degree with integrated placement.
