Course Summary
A BEng in Automotive Engineering from Harper Adams University is ideal for those who wish to build a career in the design and development of off road vehicles. The university has particularly close links with this industry, and regularly arranges working placements with organisations including BAE Systems, Caterpillar, JCB, Terex and Jaguar Land Rover.
You’ll learn about vehicle mobility, the finer points of off road suspension design, electronic control systems, and the way different terrains interact with ways to optimise ride and handling. Perhaps equally important, you’ll learn all of the research techniques and business principles you’ll need to work as an engineer or a manager of engineers in this exciting, competitive industry.
You will spend nearly as much time in a lab or technical setting as you do in classes, as this program is very much project-led. You’ll deliver both a group and individual project as part of your final year, doing real work for real world clients.
