Course Summary
Harper Adams University’s BEng in Mechanical Engineering has been designed to give graduates a firm grasp of the theory behind mechanical engineering as well as the practical skills they will need to respond to real world industrial challenges. You’ll begin by learning the core concepts of engineering generally, including design, maths, mechanics and materials science. You’ll go on to learn about modelling and simulation techniques and an understanding of process optimisation in the context of industrial manufacturing.
This will be reinforced with practical instruction in the craft of turning, milling, welding and even vehicle operation. You’ll also choose a field of specialisation such as Agricultural Engineering, Off Road Vehicle Design, or a range of other options.
In addition, you’ll spend a year in an arranged industrial placement. This will be a wonderful opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge to work and to build your practical skills in a real world working environment.
