Year 3 (Placement)

All of Harper Adams’ BEng students spend a year in an industrial placement, usually on a paid basis. The university’s Engineering Placement Manager works to match students with placements that closely match their interests and intended career paths. This not only looks great on your CV, but lets you impress at least one potential employer directly.

Mechanical engineering is a very far-reaching discipline, and a BEng from Harper Adams can open the door for a wide range of different careers. Recent graduates have found roles working in new product testing, in product design or development, in manufacturing or even in managerial or executive roles, supervising teams of engineers. Your placement year will be particularly important to your career path, as it will represent a year of working experience with specialised skills.
