    Course Summary

Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers a BA program with a major in Sociology which can be taken in either an Honours or standard format, each lending itself to a particular post-university career.

A standard Major in Sociology will prepare students for a wide range of different careers. It will prepare you to work with diverse groups in today’s ever more globalised business environment. It can often be combined with a Minor or a second Major in order to give you more specific training and experience. Those who intend to take graduate programs in Sociology should complete the Psychology BA as an Honours program.

The degree program includes opportunities to extend your studies abroad, as well as several different co-operative and experiential learning opportunities. Many of the courses include a service-learning component, where you will apply what you have learned in the local community.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
