    Course Summary

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a great way to learn about artistic practice form both the professional and academic standpoints, or to prepare for a commercial role in the field. A specialisation in the Visual Arts will see you spending a great deal of time in the studio as well as the classroom, exploring many contemporary art production techniques.

You will explore your own aesthetic judgement, knowledge of your field, expertise in your particular mode of practice and the critical theory you’ll need to understand the place our art occupies in the complex world of contemporary art.

The degree program includes opportunities to develop your practice in the local community, as well as several different co-operative and experiential learning opportunities. Some of the courses may even include a service-learning component, where you will apply what you have learned in the Vancouver Metro Area.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
