    Course Summary

A Master of Science (MSc) in Business Management from Lakehead University is a great choice for students who already have a degree in a field related to business but would like to enter the job market fully qualified to work at a management or leadership level. It will ensure that you know how to conduct and apply management research.

You’ll study advanced skills in business-based research and management techniques, of course, but you’ll also choose one or more industries, niches or other areas of business in which to specialise. This specialty will define your research project, and then become the basis of your Master’s Thesis.

Lakehead University offers you not just the advantage of learning from world class instructors and researchers, but also the advantage of small class sizes. You’ll be able to develop personal relationships with your instructors, and research has shown that personal attention does more for your grades and future career than any other single factor.

    Learning And Teaching

Lakehead University’s MSc (Mgt) program is delivered primarily through directed research, though you will also attend lectures, interactive seminars and practical sessions, where you will gain a wide range of both business and technical skills.

Lakehead is a small institution, and even lecture classes typically only contain a small group of students who will learn to work closely with each other, learning not just academics but also critical teamwork and communication skills.

    Career Possibilities

After graduating, you’ll have several career options open to you, depending on your area of specialisation and the topic of your thesis.  You’ll be well prepared to take on a responsible role in a local, national or global business, or even to start your own organisation. You’ll also be equipped to stay in academia long enough to study for an MPhil or PhD degree. No matter which pathway you choose, the university’s career support team will be with you.

    Entry & Credit

Successful completion will result in an MSc (Mgt) degree.

Applicants must typically have received a 4 year undergraduate degree, or the international equivalent. However, if the degree is unrelated to business, a foundation hear may be required.

All classes are taught in English unless otherwise noted, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
