Course Summary
Leeds Arts University offers a BA (Honours) in Filmmaking which is heavily focused on the practical side of the discipline. Over the course of your studies you will plan, write and actually film short and feature length pieces. You’ll work in the studio and on location. You’ll learn to complete solo projects, and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team in an open, supportive creative community. Your projects will be self-initiated, ranging wherever your interests take you, from music videos and experimental pieces to long form fiction or documentaries.
In addition to learning the practicalities of filmmaking, though, you’ll study the theory and critique process which informs filmmakers in their practice. You’ll watch, investigate and critique a wide variety of films, from commercial ‘movies’ to student pieces created by your peers. You’ll gain experience work in all stages of film production, taking your turn at storytelling, production design, sound and video editing, cinematography, production and direction
