    Course Summary

A BA in Animation from Leeds Arts University is a great way for students with an interest in animation to gain the skills they need to build a career in the creative industries. You’ll learn technical skills, develop your own unique style, and learn to collaborate effectively both with other animators and with interdisciplinary creative teams.

You’ll study character development, how to produce concept art and storyboards, and the production of both traditional and digital animations in 2D and 3D. You’ll also learn the kind of professional and industry-specific skills you’ll need to found a career as a commercial animator.

This is a very hands-on, practically oriented degree program. You’ll do a great deal of project work, both by yourself and collaboratively. You’ll also have the opportunity to arrange work experience internships and attend talks given by organisations like Aardman Animation, Cartoon Network, the CBBC and Fettle Animation, among many others.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
