    Course Summary

Liverpool Hope University’s Electronic and Computer Engineering MEng program is dedicated to innovation within computer science. It focuses on using the principles of engineering and design to revolutionise technology and society as a whole.

You’ll study the advanced maths and technical skills you’ll need to understand and even advance this exciting field for yourself. You’ll become familiar with subjects like virtual and augmented reality, mobile devices, internet applications, robotics and local and wide area networks of all kinds. Better still, you’ll do so in a supportive, open environment.

This program includes a year in industrial placement. This will not only represent a substantial salary, it will be a way to demonstrate to employers that you have the practical and professional skills it takes to work effectively in a modern place of business. In addition, many students have been offered permanent positions with their placement employers as soon as they finish their degree.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

The modules will be delivered by lectures, seminars and tutorials, as well as by laboratory and practical skills sessions. This ensures that you gain the deep understanding and real world abilities employers demand of graduates. Liverpool Hope’s Learning and Teaching Committee and three Faculty Quality Learning and Teaching Committees ensure that all of the school’s taught modules are factually accurate and at the forefront of technology or thinking in its field.

    Career Possiblities

There is a tremendous skills gap in the computer science and engineering fields, affecting most industries in the UK. That means skilled CS and Engineering graduates have little trouble finding rewarding roles at the forefront of technology in a range of different industries. Recent graduates have become Technical Engineers, Systems Engineers and Software Engineers, or have taken roles implementing cutting edge developments in robotics, networking, mobile computing and computer security.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 5 year MEng degree with a year in working placement.

Applicants must typically have achieved 3 A Levels at BBC or higher. International qualifications are also accepted, and can be found here.

International students must be fluent in written and spoken English. This can be demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 or better overall, 6.0 or better in Reading and Writing, and no other sub-section scoring less than 5.5.
