    Course Outline

This degree program is delivered over 3 years at full time.

    Year 1

The first year of this program is designed to give you a solid foundation in graphic design. From the very beginning you’ll explore the ways that words, layouts, colours and compositions all interact. Perhaps more importantly, you’ll see how Graphic Design sits at the axis between digital and physical art techniques.

    Year 2

In your second year you’ll explore the theories behind design and the tools of the trade in much more depth. You’ll learn to solve common design problems and add meaning to your work with layout and typography techniques as well.

    Year 3

In year three of the Graphic Design BA program you’ll use the skills you’ve gained to create a portfolio of your work. You’ll also learn to work to briefs and expectations as you interact with real world clients and working design studios.

    Learning & Teaching

Modules in this degree program take the form of large lecture classes, interactive seminars and highly focused small-scale tutorials. You’ll have roughly 13 contact hours per week in year one, 12 in year 2 and around 10 in year three, but these will be supplemented with many hours of independent study and group projects. You will also meet with your assigned tutor on a one on one basis once per week.

    Career Possiblities

Graphic Design graduates have many career paths open to them. These include web design, publishing, animated or motion graphics, illustration and may more creative industry tasks. You can improve your employability within your chosen field by taking advantage of the many Work Placement, Study Abroad, and extracurricular activities Liverpool Hope University offers. However, you have the option of continuing your studies at the Masters level rather than going straight into employment.

Successful completion will result in a 3 year BA degree.
