    Course Summary

An MA in Film, Media and Society could be what you need to find your place in this creative but highly competitive field. Liverpool Hope University’s Film, Media and Society program looks intensely at both the creative practice and the theory of film and media criticism. It is unusual for a degree program at this level to look at both processes, and that makes this course an excellent choice for students interested in either specialisation.

The critical aspects of the program demand strict intellectual rigour. However, this is balanced by the opportunity for students to create a portfolio of their original work. Modules will be taught by both academics and practitioners of the arts, often in the same module.

You’ll work closely with publishing academics, specialised tutors and award winning filmmakers. You’ll have access to studio space, a wide range of the latest equipment and an extensive media library. More importantly, you’ll learn to use these resources in a supportive research culture.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
