    Course Summary

London South Bank University’s BSc in Bioscience makes a fine first step towards a meaningful, rewarding career as a life scientist. You could go nearly anywhere with this degree, joining the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, becoming a teacher or science journalist or going on to Master’s and PhD level studies as an academic, depending on your talents and preferences.

You’ll study a wide range of scientific principles, state of the art laboratory procedures and hands-on skills throughout the program. You’ll also become familiar with the very latest research and thinking in your chosen specialty.

This program incorporates an optional year in industrial placement, making it a 4 year pathway to a ‘3 year’ degree. This is more than an opportunity to gain experience as a lab technician or life scientist, it is a way to set yourself apart from other graduates and to impress at least one potential employer with your skill and energy.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
