    Course Outline

    This is a 1 year program for most students.

    Semester 1 Modules:

    • International Human Resource and Management

    You’ll look at the unique challenges of HR management of the global scale.

    • Leading Public Health and Health Promotion

    This module explores the role of health institutions in leading societal change.

    • Management and Leadership

    Here you’ll explore the challenges this setting holds for leadership.

    Semester 2 Modules:

    • Health Economics in Developing Countries

    This module explores the economic challenges of delivering medical services globally;

    • Health planning in Developing Countries

    You’ll look at how planning requirements differ in different markets.

    • Management in Action

    You’ll look at how managers actually work in the global health sector. This module includes an observation experience in an NHS trust hospital or an NGOs.

    • Research Methods and Strategy

    Here you’ll explore the strengths and weaknesses of different research techniques.

    Semester 3 Module:

    • Dissertation

    This will be an extensive piece of written work, relating to your studies.

    Learning & Teaching

    You’ll learn in the classroom and in the field. You’ll attend tutorials, seminars and formal lectures, as well as conducting a few site visits. You’ll gain a broad understanding of the different schools of thought when it comes to the management of health institutions, and learn several methods to foster excellence both in yourself and in your staff.  You’ll also study how to apply these theories in different social, economic, psychological and ethical contexts all over the world.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in an MSc degree.

    Applicants must typically have achieved a professional qualification as well as several years of relevant work experience, nationally or internationally. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall would qualify, for example.
