    Course Outline

    This MSc course is delivered over 1 year at full time, but you have the option of taking a second year in a hospitality or tourism industry placement.

    Year 1

    This year consists of taught modules. You’ll learn industry specific skills, management theory and research designed to enhance your critical thinking skills.

    Year 2 (internship / placement)

    Though optional, it is strongly advised that you take this degree as a 2 year program with a year in placement as a paid intern in the hospitality and tourism industry. Placements typically last 36-48 weeks, and are arranged with the assistance of MMU’s Placement Office. They will also be your chief source of careers support after you graduate.

    Learning & Teaching

    This MSc program is typically delivered over 2 years. Year one is comprised of taught modules and year two is primarily work experience in the tourism and hospitality industry. The taught modules will consist of a fairly standard mix of lectures, seminars and practical skills sessions. You will also be expected to spend a great deal of time in independent study. The placement year is devoted almost exclusively to developing practical working and management skills.

    The hospitality and tourism industry is growing every year, especially in the international context. Not only will you have built a skillset designed to make you feel at home in a rage of roles within the industry, but you’ll have actual working experience from your internship. This combination makes you perfect for a fast track to management role in Resort Management, Hotel and/or Restaurant Management, Destination Marketing or Hotel Operations.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 1 year MSc degree.
