    McGill University’s Computer Science BA will prepare you to take your place in the exciting world of technology.     Course Outline

    This degree program is typically delivered over 3 years of full time study at 30 credits per year, for a total of 90 credits. However, there are special requirements for international students. Students who did not attend a high school in Quebec will need to attend a ‘freshman year’ before they begin the main program, making this a 4 year, 120 credit degree program.

    There are substantial maths prerequisites for this program, as the math components of this course begin at Calculus 3 and go on from there. If you have already taken some programming content, you may be able to skip some introductory modules.

    Learning And Teaching

    McGill University’s Computer Science program is delivered primarily through lectures, skills workshops and seminar sessions. Some modules may be available as distance learning or blended learning programs. Students are encouraged to spend study time at McGill’s library, and to make use of both the department level and faculty level advisors who are available to all. Such support is offered online and in person through various university offices.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 3 year BA degree.

    Applicants must typically have completed several math requirements at the high school level in order to apply for this program. These prerequisites include 3 credits of Linear Algebra and Geometry, 3 credits at the Calculus 1 level and 4 credits at the Calculus 2 level.    

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
