    Course Summary

    A combined BSc / MSci degree from Middlesex University London will demonstrate to potential employers that you have amassed the kind of scientific and technical expertise as well as the practical laboratory skills they require from high level graduates in the life sciences.

    You’ll have multiple opportunities to join research expeditions to various parts of the world throughout your studies, and will conduct a research project of your own in your final year – with the help of the academic staff of course. You can even take a special fieldwork training course at the university’s campus in Mauritius.

    You’ll also have the option of a year in industrial or research placement. This represents a great opportunity for you, as you’ll learn field work and / or laboratory skills from people already working within your chosen specialty.     Course Outline

    This program is typically delivered as a BSc over three years at full time, or 4 if you choose to spend a year in placement. It can also be taken as a combined BSc /MSci, at 4 years or 5 with a year in placement.

    Learning & Teaching

    Middlesex University London delivers each of its modules differently depending on the subject matter and the preferences of each course tutor. Much of this degree program will be delivered in the lab, as well.

    Contact time is usually evenly divided between lectures, seminars and practical sessions. For example, a typical first year week would see you spending 6 hours in seminars, 5.5 hours in practical sessions and 5 hours in lectures.

    Career Possiblities

    Middlesex University London’s combined Biology MSCI / BSc degree program offers excellent graduate employment possibilities. Of course, many students will opt to work towards their PhD degrees, but if you wish to enter the job market your skills will be in high demand almost anywhere. Many recent graduates have taken roles in the educational filed, in the fields of nature or wildlife conservation, in the role of environmental consultant or working in an environemntal compliance role.  

    Entry Credit

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An excellent IELTS score would qualify, for example.
