    Course Summary

Middlesex University London offers a unique BEng degree program focusing on Computer Communication and Networks. This is a complex and wide-ranging field, with room for more specialties and individual career pathways than could be detailed here. One thing that is certain is that skilled computer engineering graduates are in high demand all over the world, not just in the UK.

This program will see you studying key technical and operational aspects of the industry, and how to apply the latest research advances to real world networks and business processes.

You’ll also have the option of a year in professional placement. This represents a great opportunity for you, as you’ll learn real world computer engineering skills from people already working in your chosen specialty. You might even be offered post graduate employment, if you impress your placement host enough. Statistically speaking, 70% of these working placements do result in a job offer (contingent upon graduation).

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

Learning through working placement is also strongly encouraged. You might take a full year in placement between years 2 and 3, which can be chosen to further reinforce your specialist skills.

    Career Possiblities

Middlesex University London’s Computer Communication and Networks BEng degree program offers excellent graduate employment rates both within the UK and abroad. Your skills will be in high demand almost anywhere. Recent graduates have become Applications Developers, ICT Managers, Network Engineers, Software Engineers, Systems Developers, IT Project Managers and many more besides. Alternatively, you might transition into an MSc or MEng program rather than taking a role in business or industry.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a full BEng degree.

Students must typically have been awarded 104 UCAS Tariff points to apply. The full list of accepted qualifications can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An excellent IELTS score would qualify, for example.
