    Course Summary

Middlesex University London’s combined BEng / MEng degree program in Product Design Engineering will equip you with the knowledge, practical skills and industry connections you’ll need to forge a rewarding and fast-paced career in designing new and innovative consumer products.

You’ll learn to apply both the principles of mechanical design and physical computing to a wide range of domestic product types, as well as becoming proficient in all of the latest industry standard software packages and productivity tools. This will leave you well prepared for the real world’s multidisciplinary working environments.

You’ll also have the option of a year in professional placement. This represents a great opportunity for you, as you’ll learn real world design engineering skills from people already working in the field. You might even be offered post graduate employment by your placement host, if you impress them well enough. Statistically speaking, 70% of these working placements do result in a job offer (contingent upon graduation).

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
