    Course Summary

Political Science is the study of how stares, governments and other organisations use, regulate and restrict power. It looks at the duties and rights of citizens, residents and temporary visitors alike, and seeks to formalise our understanding of the cultural, economic and social groupings which shape the political community in Canada or anywhere else in the world. It incorporates both individual, corporate and collective political action, and utilises many different political theories and viewpoints to examine issues from as many angles as possible.

Mount Allison’s Political Science BA lets you specialise in one of four primary foci – Political Theory, International Politics, Comparative Politics or Canadian Politics. The Politics and International Relations Department offers two separate undergraduate degree programs – the BA in Political Science and a BA in International Relations. The programs are very closely linked, and include many of the same classes and modules. It may even be possible to transfer between the two programs with ease, early in the process.
