This degree program is typically delivered over three years at part time, and the school will work with you to make your studies fit around your availability.
Your first year in Newman University’s MSc program in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, you’ll learn about the theoretical background of therapy, about the ethics that psychotherapists and counsellors are expected to uphold and ways to respect diversity. You will also undergo therapy yourself, amassing some 30 hours in the first year.
Once you are assessed, you’ll begin your counselling placement in year two. This will eb done under clinical supervision. Both your placement and therapy sessions will continue through year three. You’ll also take more taught modules.
In the final year of the program, you’ll select taught modules which further explore your chosen specialties, as well as beginning a research project which will inform your Master’s Dissertation.
