    Course Summary

OSU’s BA in Arts Management will see you developing business and managerial skills, as well as gaining an expertise in arts and cultural markets and organisations.

No career in the Arts is really simple, and the people who produce goods, services and intangibles for the cultural and contemporary arts industries often call upon business specialists to improve  their access to markets, help them with forming and executing business strategy, and generally to manage the ‘business’ side of their practice. These Arts managers need to know more than business, though. They need to understand the needs of both artists and their ultimate markets in order to better bridge the gap between them.

OSU’s BA programs are known for their strong academic focus, their close ties to the university’s world changing research and their focus on making students ready to further their educational achievements or move directly into a well-paid, exciting career upon graduation.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Learning And Teaching

The Ohio State University works to combine traditional and more innovative, interdisciplinary techniques in every course of study they offer. As an OSU student, you can expect to attend both large lecture classes and smaller interactive seminars.

Honours courses are typically available, and the Office of Career Management can help you set up internships and other experiential learning opportunities. These will bolster your course learning with practical skills and important contact networks.

    Career Possibilities

This degree could prepare you for a graduate school program in either Business, the Fine Arts, the Performing Arts or a related program at OSU or elsewhere in the world. You might instead choose to move up to a professional degree program, or move directly into work. Those OSU Arts Management students who do go directly into work often find roles in commercial arts businesses, public arts agencies, and community based arts institutions.

    Entry & Credit

Successful completion will result in a 4 year BA degree.

To enter any of OSU’s undergraduate programs, you’ll need to have a secondary education – a US High School Diploma or the international equivalent – with good ACT or SAT scores. Acceptance is competitive.

All classes are taught in English, and international students from non-English speaking countries may be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
