This program is a good choice for several reasons:

    • It gives you a broad, systemic perspective on care management, including both practical skills and a deep theoretical background.
    • It places special emphasis on understanding how health and social care fit into the modern economy and the strategic difficulties managers in these organisations face.
    • It has an excellent record of student satisfaction and employability.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Learning & Teaching

Oxford Brookes’ MSc in Health and Social Care Management uses several different teaching methods, as appropriate to each module. Lectures are used to deliver broad theoretical concepts. Practical sessions convey certain skills and cement learning by active participation. Projects and other coursework give you a chance to actually use your skills and provide a basis for your abilities to be assessed by staff. You will also have online access to many of the learning resources.

    Career Possiblities

Like many industries, health and social care both require more high level graduates than the UK can easily supply. That means that those who successfully complete their Management in Health and Social Care MSc, PG Dip or PG Cert qualifications rarely struggle to find rewarding positions. Most of the students who come to this program already have experience in the industry, and many take the program at part time around their work commitments. This kind of certification makes it easier for them to achieve promotion.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 1 year MSc degree.

Applicants must typically have achieved a good BA or BSc degree, or the international equivalent. Beyond that, a wide range of qualifications are accepted.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall would qualify, for example.
