    Course Summary

Leadership and management at the upper levels of medium to large organisations is completely different form entrepreneurship or running small organisations and consultancies. The ‘tricks of the trade’ are rarely amenable to being taught in the classroom, and each leader has their own ‘playbook’ which is highly specialised and difficult to apply to other industries, sectors or even organisations.

That is why Plymouth Marjon University’s Senior Leader MBA program has been created as more of an apprenticeship than a traditional taught degree. You’ll gain incredible development potential and upper level management skills as well as an incalculable amount of employer-defined knowledge and industry specific expertise. You’ll engage in extensive online and face to face learning sessions.

The program therefore relies upon delivery and assessment techniques that are unique as well. These have been developed with the assistance and collaboration of local and national employers in order to ensure that what you learn is both relevant and reliably demonstrable.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.

    Learning & Teaching

Plymouth Marjon University’s Senior Leader MBA program is unusual in many ways. It is more of an apprenticeship than a traditional Master’s degree program, and the learning and teaching methods it employs have been chosen to suit its unique requirements.

You’ll engage in quite a bit of online learning, but you’ll interact directly with lecturers both face to face and online. Your work will include completing presentations and essays, engaging in work based and consultancy projects, creating a business plan and strategy document, and conducting a project showcase.

    Career Possiblities

More than 95% of Marjon’s graduates find suitable work (or enter into higher degree programs) within 6 months of successfully completing their degrees. You’ll be in a strong position to apply for a range of positions, including CIO / CEO / CFO / COO level posts, posts like Director, Executive, Senior Manager or General Manager. Other possibilities include high level military rank or other specialist roles with a great deal of management responsibility.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a specialised MBA degree.

Applicants must typically have earned a 2:1 or better first or the international equivalent, and should have experience or professional qualifications. The full list of qualifications which are accepted can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. An IELTS score of 6.5 or better overall would qualify, for example.
