    A 2 year ‘top up’ BA in Accountancy and Financial Management from the University of Portsmouth is the perfect choice for EU or overseas students who wish to upgrade their educational qualifications.     Course Outline

    This BA program is delivered over 2 years at full time. Each year is composed of 120 credits worth of taught modules. Many of these are required modules which every student will take, but the rest are selected from a range of optional modules which will allow you to define your own specialty or specialties.

    In addition, free courses are available to help you improve your written and/or spoken English to a professional standard.

    Learning & Teaching

    Each of the academic years is divided into three parts – an Autumn Teaching Block that runs from September to December, a Spring Teaching Block that runs from January to the Easter Holidays, and an Assessment Period which begins at the end of the holidays and runs until June. The Teaching Blocks will include lectures, seminars, tutorials and/or practical sessions of various kinds. Your coursework and examination results will be considered over the Assessment Periods.

    Career Possiblities

    Many graduates go on to work at accountancy firms or in the accountancy departments of larger organisations in order to earn their full professional certifications. Others go into management or finance roles such as Finance Manager, Stockbroker, Management Consultant or Financial Analyst.

    Entry Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 2 year ‘top up’ BA degree.

    Applicants must typically have achieved an undergraduate degree or its equivalent, with at least 120 first year HE credits. Other qualifications may be accepted, however.  

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no section scoring less than 5.5. Other tests can also be accepted, at similar levels of achievement.
