    Course Summary

Queen Margaret University offers a BA (or BA with Honours) degree in Film and Media. This involves studying how films and other media affect people’s identities and consumption patterns, the effects of media on culture at both the national and the international levels, and applying academic research standards to media studies.

You’ll study film both from the artistic standpoint and as a commercial enterprise, learning to ensure that your projects are successful in both areas. You’ll gain valuable skills in communication, project management, academic research and teamwork, as well as video and media production itself.

In the final 2 years of the program, you’ll be able to choose your own specialty and degree pathway. You might pursue optional models in Photography, Screenwriting or Television Drama, just to name a few possibilities. You will also be able to choose between a written or production dissertation in your final year.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
