    Course Summary

Queen’s University Belfast’s Business Economics BSc combines some of the best features of their Business Management and Economics degrees. It will teach you not just economic theory but how to apply it effectively in a wide range of modern business contexts. It has relatively less emphasis on pure mathematics than many similar economic courses, but it does serve to improve numeracy and quantitative methods as well as facility with the latest business applications.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take an optional placement year between years 2 and 3. This will be arranged with one of the university’s partner institutions which matches your intended specialty and career path well. Recent placements have included organisations like Tayto Group Ltd, First Derivatives, Oxford Economics, Citi, KPMG and PwC.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
