    Course Summary

Robert Gordon University’s LLM program offers a number of different pathways, each resulting in a different named degree. The International Law pathway is designed to be especially helpful to lawyers and non-lawyers who wish to develop a much deeper understanding of both public and private international law. Unlike many of RGU’s degree programs, it cannot be fully completed through online study alone.

You’ll learn about modern of global politics, and both the theory and patterns of practice which inform international law. This will include both interactions between sovereign states and the framework which governs people and corporations acting at the international or global levels.

In addition to this ‘core’ curriculum you’ll study several optional modules. This will allow you to develop a special field of interest which will better prepare you for success in your chosen career path. Note that if you do not hold at least an LLB degree, you must take the Legal Framework’ module.

If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits. Our network of contacts, a dedicated employability service and a reputation in the legal profession mean we also have an outstanding track-record of finding students legal employment. Many employers favour GDL students in an increasingly competitive legal job market. Through studying another degree subject, you will have gained many transferable skills. By taking the conversion route into law, you are showing motivation and determination by choosing law at a later stage than some others. This looks good to employers.
