    Course Outline

An FdSc is a Foundation Degree in Science. It is a 2 year program equivalent to levels 4 and 5 whereas a traditional BSc includes levels 4, 5 and 6. The Royal Agricultural University offers several ‘top-up’ BSc degrees that are intended to follow on from an FdSc earned at RAU or elsewhere. Equally, you might seek out a top up degree at a wide range of other fine universities, in the UK or abroad.

Part time study options are also available. Full time students take 60 credits of modules for each 15 week semester, 120 per year. Part time students might take as few as 30 per semester.

    Year 1 Modules Include:

    • Being Enterprising
    • Foundations of Marketing
    • Introduction to Business Finance
    • Management and Leadership 1
    • Managing Operations
    • Managing People
    • Personal and Professional Development

    Year 2 Modules Include:

    • Business Planning
    • Current issues in Business and Enterprise
    • E-Commerce and Social Media
    • Entrepreneurship Opportunity in Action
    • Management and Leadership 2
    • Managing Finance

    Learning & Teaching

The Royal Agricultural University uses fairly standard teaching methods, with a heavy emphasis on learning practical skills in real or simulated work-based environments. You’ll attend the formal lectures, interactive seminars and skills workshops you’d expect from a modern university, but you’ll also spend a great deal of time building expertise in business and management while earing real world business experience. Your progress will be assessed via your examinations, presentations and coursework.

    Learning & Teaching

More than 93% of RAU’s graduates find suitable work (or enter into higher degree programs) within 6 months of successfully completing their degrees. You’ll have a wide range of options at your disposal, including staying on for another year with the Royal Agricultural University’s BSc top-up program in International Business Management. Once you have a full BSc under your belt you could progress directly to a career in management or pursue an MBA or other master’s level qualifications.

    Entry Credit

Successful completion will result in a 2 year FdSc degree.

Applicants must typically have earned 56 UCAS Tariff points or the international equivalent. The full list of qualifications which are accepted can be found here.

All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test. A good IELTS score would qualify, for example.
