    Royal Roads University’s BA program in Professional Communication will prepare you well for an MBA, or for a career in a wide range of organisations touching upon technology, popular culture, media, marketing or language.

    You’ll learn about communication in the abstract, academic sense as well as in a practical, professional context. You’ll study digital communication, public persuasion, professional writing and copywriting crisis management in communication and more. You’ll gain a unique sensitivity towards the different needs of cultural markets, ad the necessity of sustainable communication in all of the world’s markets.

    This is typically taken as a ‘degree completion program’, and assumes that you have already completed 2 years of post-secondary education or their equivalent. It can be a 4 year program, however, and those who do not already meet the language requirements for the program can complete the first two years of the degree at the International Study Centre.

    Learning And Teaching

    Royal Roads University makes use of both traditional and innovative learning and teaching techniques for almost all of its degrees. In particular, they offer a close-knit ‘student cohort based’ learning experience and a focus on global awareness. 

    The curriculum includes three distinct phases:

    • The pre-residency stage is online based. 
    • There will be one residential phases at the beginning of each year, each lasting 2 weeks.
    • Following each residency will be another post-residency online study period, again lasting 2 weeks.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a BA degree.

    To enter Royal Roads University’s BA in Professional Communication, you’ll need to have completed two years of your baccalaureate degree or a Diploma in Communications with a ‘B’ or better average, or the international equivalent.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
