    Course Summary

    Marketing is about much more than selling a good or service. Marketing as a field of study includes everything from creating and developing new products to managing relationships with clients, shareholders, partners and many other parties. The relationship between a business and its market is central to the study of marketing, though.

    Saint Mary’s University’s Management program will give you the skills you need to lead small or large teams, to direct business operations and to form and enact policies.

    • Co-operative Education option

    Any of the university’s BoC degrees can be taken with co-op content. This will see you doing paid work at a provincial or federa department or a similar agency, or at a range of financial institutions. 

    • Overseas and Exchange options

    Saint Mary’s Economics students will be able to sign up for a range of academic exchange programs with the university’s partner institutions in Africa, South America, Asia or Europe.

    Course Outline

    A baccalaureate degree is typically delivered over 4 years of full time study, though co-operative or exchange options may extend that period. 

    Yu can declare Major in Marketing upon completing 45 credit hours of Commerce material with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. You must then earn a GPA of 2.2 or better in the modules marked with an asterisk below.

    Learning And Teaching

    Saint Mary’s University relies on a wide range of learning and teaching methods. They seek to blend both traditional and innovative techniques to produce a unique curriculum appropriate to each degree they offer. For example, you’ll attend large lecture classes but also smaller and more interactive seminars and tutorial sessions. Many subjects have experiential or co-operative learning content. Marketing students will learn key skills in teamwork, critical thinking, management and organisation, public speaking and mass communication.

    Career Possibilities

    A degree in Marketing can lead to many different careers in the private and not for profit sectors. Many Baccalaureate level students stay on for a Master’s or MBA degree, though many others go directly into working in their chosen field. Saint Mary’s Marketing graduates have become marketing assistants, marketing managers, e-marketing specialists, customer service managers, advertising managers promotion or sales reps, marketing research analysts, product managers and brand managers. 

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialisation n Marketing. 

    Applicants to either program must typically have completed a secondary school education or the international equivalent. Great weight will be given to the GPA earned by your final year.

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
