    Course Summary

    Seneca College offers a 2 year Diploma in Accounting and Financial Services (ACF). It delivers a wide range of professional and employment skills, as well as the fundamentals of business, facility with relevant technologies and a deep understanding of business accounting practices. 

    You’ll learn to use the tools of the trade as well. These include Access relational database management software, Microsoft Excel and others. You’ll be in an excellent position to begin your job search. 

    In the latter part of this program, you’ll have access to a series of 5 ‘bridging courses’. Once these and the remainder of your diploma requirements are met, you will be able to transfer directly into Seneca College’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce in International Accounting and Finance program, assuming your GPA remains high. In addition, you can transfer any relevant academic credits you have earned in the last ten years into this program, possibly shortening your study time dramatically. 

    If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness. Many employers actively seek candidates with these benefits.     Learning And Teaching

    Seneca College’s Accounting and Financial Services programs are all designed to help you prepare for professional certification as a CPA, and has been nationally accredited by CPA Ontario. The program prepares you for the CPA Professional Education Program, which in turn allows access to the CPA PEP Capstone 1 and 2 modules. Once you have completed those, you’ll be able to take the CFE (Common Final Examination) which will qualify you as a CPA. 

    Career Possibilities

    You’ll graduate with a deep understanding of Accounting and Financial Services. Whilst the majority of Seneca’s Accounting students do go on to take the CPA exam, you’ll certainly have other options. Those who wish to enter directly into the work force might seek roles as accounting technicians, accounts payable analysts, accounts receivable analysts, general accounting co-ordinators, junior corporate accountants, payroll administrators, small business accountants or as tax return specialists.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 2 year Diploma in Accounting and Financial Services (ACF).

    To apply, you should have an Ontario Secondary School diploma including grade 12 Maths and English, an ACE Certification or the international equivalent. 

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
