    Course Summary

    Seneca College’s Honours Bachelor degree in DSA (Data Science and Analytics) is the only one of its kind in the entire province of Ontario. It was created to provide the skilled data analysis graduates that Canada’s businesses and industries demand, but without the time and expense of a graduate degree. You’ll be able to span the disciplines of analytics, statistics and computer science to develop meaningful mathematical models. 

    This degree will prepare you for a range of roles which require interpersonal and leadership skills, an understanding of the ethical and legal requirements for confidentiality and data security, data-driven business intelligence skills, conducting research to support data driven strategy and decision making, intercultural and interdisciplinary project management skills, communications capability to a wide range of audiences, statistical, data mining and mathematical modelling techniques, critical analysis supporting tactical and strategic business decisions, the generation of knowledge using big data techniques and the careful curation of data. 

    If you are changing direction after starting in another career area, you will possess valuable work experience and professional awareness.     Learning And Teaching

    Seneca College’s DSA program incorporates all of the standard classroom and teaching methods you would expect: large lectures, smaller seminars and both practical and simulated skills tutorials. However, it also includes work-integrated learning and a co-op term. These provide actual working experience as well as the seeds of a professional contact network in your chosen field. You’ll find both of those to be incredibly useful when searching for your first few roles. 

    Career Possibilities

    This is the only program of its kind in Ontario, and it provides a unique skillset. You’ll have many career options open to you, including entering into graduate degree programs or pursuing advanced professional certification. You would also be qualified to take up a career as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, big data engineer, data architect or database developer. You might also become affiliated with the BTMAC, CAP, EMCDS or SAP.

    Entry & Credit

    Successful completion will result in a 4 year Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics degree.

    To apply, you should have an Ontario Secondary School diploma including English and Mathematics at grade 12, or the international equivalent. 

    All classes are taught in English, and international students will be required to show proficiency in English by scoring well on an approved test.
